The Academic & Research Senior Hardware Technician provides overall I.T.-related customer support within Care New England's academic and research communities. The Senior Hardware Technician plans, installs and maintains software and hardware equipment for these internal customer groups. The incumbent also plans small to moderately-sized I.T. projects -- and is able to put that plan into effect by determining needs and overseeing the expansion (or installation) of I.T.-related systems and hardware. Provides training and technical support to end users and assists in the training and professional development of other I.T. staff members.
Bachelor's Degree in computer science (or related field) with three to five years' experience with office productivity applications, such as Microsoft Office, and extensive experience with Mac OS X, and Microsoft Windows 7 and 10. Working knowledge of I.T.-interfaced devices in a laboratory setting and the ability to apply proper troubleshooting techniques to trace and correct faults within research, clinical, or administrative settings. Also requires a minimum of one year of hands-on experience in Mac and Windows hardware installation and support. A+ certification and supervisory experience within an academic setting highly desirable.
