Position Overview The System Administrator is responsible for ensuring computer systems are well maintained and operate reliably. This individual will manage system applications, servers and provide/restrict access to them as needed. In addition, the System Administrator will perform regular systems and security monitoring and be responsible for handling backup procedures, patches, upgrades, and implementation of new server/systems to ensure that systems are maximally efficient and effective. Coordinates specific work tasks with other personnel within the department as well as with other departments in order to ensure the smooth and efficient flow of information. Develops and maintains a project/job request management system to centrally prioritize and schedule technical tasks. Makes recommendations for workflow improvements and ways to enhance efficiency and effectiveness; documents as appropriate. Keeps project, service tickets current and up to date and completes them within the agreed timeline and/or stated service level agreements. Provides on-site and remote support, problem solving, and training of related PC, Server, Phone, and other supported hardware. Provides assistance with mobile device deployment, administration and support. Provides leadership in areas of responsibility, suggests improvements, provides direction and develops best practices on areas of influence. Provides assistance to support the banks Help Desk functions. Responds to inquiries relating to his/her particular area, or to requests from customers, other personnel, etc., within given time frames and within established policy. Manages IT functions and maintenance of systems including, but not limited to: Environments: Production, Test, Backups/Windows Citrix, VMWare Hardware: Servers, PCs, Laptops, Thin Clients, Peripherals Software: Microsoft, Adobe, other products and services. Works with third party IT consultants and IT vendors on application and system design, documentation, installations, updates, and support issues. Monitors, plans, and coordinates the distribution of client/server software and service packs. Participates in project management activities including scoping, plan development, task management, and execution. Maintains current knowledge of the various technologies; keeps current on all industry-specific emerging technology trends. Works independently on special IT projects as assigned by supervisor. Assists IT management team with various administrative duties as requested. Troubleshoots malfunctions of servers and software applications to resolve operational issues in order to restore service. Checks proposed solutions in test environments to ensure outcome meets intentions. Logs and tracks implementations, changes, fixes, issue re-occurrences, degradation in system performances on a daily basis. Creates and/or improves workflows, documents results of IT projects, implementations, changes, fixes, as needed. Produces reports/audits on changes of health and thresholds on servers, appliances and its functions, within the banks infrastructure. Maintains an inventory of all hardware, PC software and licensing records. Education & Qualifications An Associate s degree in a related field of study preferred, or equivalent work experience and/or training. A minimum of four (4) years related experience normally required. Skill(s) Proficient interpersonal relations and communicative skills for high and low level explanation; proficient adaptive technical skills; proficient Server and PC computer skills; ability to work in a virtual environment; thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office software; proficient ITIL project management; able characterize clear technical and end user based documentation.
