Under general supervision of the PFS Project Manager provides analytical support for Patient Financial Services as well as coordinating operational workflow and programming changes for continuous process improvement.
Utilizes Epic EHR system and various reporting tools to identify trends and areas for improvement in the revenue cycle. Summarizes and presents analyses to senior leadership. Works with departments throughout the organization to educate on the content of the AR reports.
Researches issues affecting the AR both proactively and as requested by PFS leadership. Coordinates with all interested and affected parties to identify root causes of issues.
Recommends programming and workflow changes based on findings and input from all affected parties. Coordinates with operational stakeholders and Information Services for to create build specifications validate test results and implement programming changes as needed.
Exercises judgment and assumes responsibility for decisions consequences and results having an impact on system wide accounts receivable fiscal activity processing of revenue productivity and quality of service within the functional area.
Develops and maintains suite of monthly accounts receivable (AR) reports that are distributed throughout Lifespan on a monthly basis.
Maintains technical awareness through appropriate training seminar and conference attendance.
Creates and maintains documentation on workflows and system decisions using Microsoft Visio. Communicates changes in workflows to all affected users.
Works on special projects as needed and assigned by PFS Project Manager.
Bachelors degree required preferably in healthcare management accounting finance business management or computer science. Masters Degree preferred.
Experience working with Epic EHR and Business Objects desired.
Epic Professional Billing and/or Hospital Billing Clarity reporting writing certification desired or to be obtained within one year of hire date.
Ability to design and develop database financial reports for forecasting trending and results analysis in a clear and concise presentation.
Proficient comprehension of semi-complex mathematical formulas and calculations.
Strong communication skills both verbal and written.
Proven ability to communicate technical and related concepts to a broad range of technical and non-technical staff.
Analytical and organizational skills with strong critical thinking and problem solving abilities.
Ability to work as part of a professional team and to collaborate effectively with management employees and outside vendors.
3-5 years work experience in automated multi-facility health environment in either registration coding or billing with a preference for supervisory or quality review experience
Work is performed in a typical office setting requiring sitting in a normal seated position for extended periods of time; reaching by extending hand or arm in any direction; and finger dexterity to manipulate keyboard.
Position requires ability to speak see and hear within normal range.
