Reports to the Pediatric Business Director and the Division Director of Pediatric Hematology-Oncology. The Program Manager works in partnership with the Division Director the clinical manager of the outpatient clinic and the clinical manager of the inpatient unit. Provides programmatic and financial leadership to the academic and provider staff to provider care for children with cancer and blood disorders.
Participates in program development implementation and evaluation for programs of the Division of Pediatric Hematology-Oncology in accordance with federal state and institutional standards. Defines and assures that these programs comply with policies and procedures as established by RIH and JCAHO.
Ensures effective recruitment selection development and evaluation of professional and support staff. Manages effective utilization of resources to meet established goals.
Develops policies procedures and competencies that integrate the medical nursing rehabilitative and psychosocial plans of care to meet the needs of children and families served by the division.
Participates in development of systems for providing care which evidence improvement and support innovation in practice; are based on customer need and mission of the hospital.
Participates in development of a service quality improvement program that focuses on principles of family-centered care.
Participates in division hospital community and professional committees task forces and boards. Serves on multidisciplinary performance improvement teams. Analyzes data and identifies opportunities for care improvement.
Monitors compliance and facilitates resolution of problems and/or complaints.
Develops an operational and capital budget to meet volume and patient needs. Analyzes and explains budget variances.
Works in conjunction with research staff to manage research finances and compliance.
Establishes proper billing procedures in accordance with state and federal guidelines. Works in collaboration with Patient Financial Services to update changes in billing as indicated by state and federal agencies.
Participates in the employee performance evaluation process.
Maintains level of knowledge and expertise in licensed discipline enhances professional expertise by participating in appropriate educational activities.
Identifies professional development needs of staff in collaboration with program leadership to maximize educational opportunities for staff.
Assists with the recruitment and onboarding of new staff and providers within the division. Identifies areas for improvement and affect same in collaboration with involved disciplines.
Utilizes continuous improvement approach to measure actual performance against established standards.
Promotes shared decision making as model for staff participation in ambulatory practice operations.
Demonstrates accessibility to staff by establishing staff communication plan to include staff meetings and effective individual interactions.
Establishes mechanism to encourage evidence-based practice incorporating research findings into standards of practice policies and procedures.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Baccalaureate degree in finance nursing or a related field.
Minimum of two years management experience in ambulatory practice/social service agency.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Exposed to inpatient and out patient settings.
Supervisory responsibility for up to 18 FTEs.
