POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director (ED) will have overall fiscal, strategic and operational responsibility for VWW's staff, programs and execution of its mission. They will develop relationships across private, public and business sectors to advance VWW's mission and program strategy and to increase impact on the individuals we serve.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Mission and Vision: Work collaboratively with the Board of Directors in policy formulation and interpretation, development and execution of organizational goals and strategies, and fiscal management,to ensure the continued growth and success of the organization. Ensure coordination and alignment of all VWW activities to the mission, strategic plan and budget.
2. Organizational Leadership and Outreach: Lead efforts to foster a positive, respectful, collaborative, and inclusive workplace culture, including development of a diverse staff, board, and program participants.Develop, maintain and support a strong Board of Directors; seek and engage board involvement with strategic direction and organization stewardship. Promote diversity and collaboration with, and within, the community at large. Build and maintain relationships with community leaders, partners, businesses, government, not-for-profit organizations and donors. Represent VWW at events, conferences andmeetings; build capacity of VWW staff to develop, foster and cultivate external relations.
3. Resource Development: Promote and nurture a culture of philanthropy. Expand revenue and fundraising activities to support ongoing operations, future program development, and long-term financial sustainability. Collaborate with the Director of Development & Communications to set fundraising strategyand goals. Work with Director of Development & Communications, staff, and Board of Directors to identify, cultivate, solicit and retain individual donors, foundations, and grant makers, and participate in donor meetings and solicitations. and program partners; and leverage other fee-for-service, earned income, or innovative funding opportunities. As needed, develop content for grant applications and other funding opportunities.
4. Program Sustainability: Provide strategic oversight in the research, design, development, delivery and evaluation efforts related to all VWW programs; ensure ongoing programmatic excellence and evolution;ensure implementation of robust data and evaluation systems that monitor program consistency and impact and enable continuous program improvement. Implement strategies that maximize the synergiesamong program areas.
5. Administrative and Financial Responsibility: Accountable for the operational and fiscal integrity of VWW. Set financial priorities to support the needs of programs and staff. Oversee all fiscal reporting and development of yearly budgets and long-range financial plans. Monitor fiscal goals and ensure soundfinancial controls are in place and financial risks are mitigated. Energize and lead individuals and teams andfacilitate collaboration to achieve results. Supervise and develop the senior management team and otherstaff as needed. Pursue initiatives to support positive morale, competitive total compensation, and optimal working conditions.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
* Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent knowledge and experience. Training, experience, or an advanced degree in management, public administration or business desirable.
Experience
* 7-10 years of senior leadership, management and administrative experience, preferably in a nonprofit organization and/or involving interaction with volunteers and boards.
* Experience and/or knowledge of the issues and regulatory landscape relevant to the organization's work (e.g. workforce development, women's or girls' issues, working with marginalized populations, etc.).
* Leading by example, fostering motivation and commitment of staff in the work, and being a constant positive force in the organization.
* Leading or supporting efforts to further diversity and inclusion in the workplace and programs
* Increasing organizational capacity and success by building and sustaining relationships with current and prospective donors and stakeholders, including individuals, foundations, grant makers, and businesses.
* Developing external partnerships and building revenue.
* Managing budgets in a complicated financial environment with multiple sources of funds and varied programmatic needs.
