The Naval Nuclear Laboratory (NNL) is seeking a highly motivated professional to join our Security team. Apply to this position if you're seeking to work in a mission-driven, technically diverse and dynamic environment with a strong technical team focused on learning and continuous improvement.

The successful candidate will work in a technically diverse atmosphere supporting the Classification Office and Information Security. The Classification Analyst will support all aspects of the NNL Classification Program. This position offers the opportunity to gain familiarity with the interpretation and application of security requirements (e.g. DOE, DoD, NNL) while working with a broad range of NR Program Technical and Business Support communities.

The Classification Analyst will among other duties and responsibilities:

  • Analyze unclassified and classified documents to determine protection requirements and actions needed in accordance with Executive Order (E.O. ) 13526 (e.g., Automatic Declassification, Freedom of Information (FOIA) reviews).
  • Be knowledgeable of NNPP program classification guidance and directives and use this knowledge to perform manual and electronic classification reviews and documented determinations.
  • Develop and provide guidance on classification, NNPP markings and policy requirements..
  • Prepare lesson plans and conduct training and mentoring across the NR Program for classification and information security.
  • Act as the liaison internally within NNL and externally with other NR Prime Contractors and the government.
  • Conduct investigations and inquiries on classification topics, including development of recommendations to mitigate information security threats.
  • The duties and responsibilities of this position requires the ability to:

  • Interact professionally with engineers and professionals across NNL, Prime Contractors and NR.
  • Collaborate and consult with subject matter experts.
  • The Classification Analyst may also support security plans and application of guidance to complex designs and systems.

    Job Requirements

    Senior:

  • Bachelors degree in a technical, engineering or science-related field from an accredited college or university and a minimum of six years relevant experience; or
  • Masters degree in a degree in a technical, engineering or science-related field from an accredited college or university and a minimum of four years relevant experience
  • Demonstrated experience in NR Program technical, operations, information technology, radiological, environmental or facility work programs
  • Ability to obtain and retain DOE Q-Access Authorization
  • Principal:

  • Bachelors degree in a technical, engineering or science-related field from an accredited college or university and a minimum of nine years relevant experience; or
  • Masters degree in a degree in a technical, engineering or science-related field from an accredited college or university and a minimum of seven years relevant experience
  • Minimum five (5) years experience with Derivative Classification
  • Demonstrated experience in NR Program technical, operations, information technology, radiological, environmental or facility work programs
  • Ability to obtain and retain DOE Q-Access Authorization
  • Job Preferred Skills

  • Demonstrated experience with detailed document reviews, technical and engineering research and engineering research or analysis.
  • Experience working with government agency requirements and policies.
  • Experience with auditing and compliance requirements and procedures.
