Under the direction of the Operations Manager and the Clinical Team, the Patient Services Coordinator performs the responsibilities outlined below.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
* Performs all check-in and check-out functions, as outlined by the MGH/MGPO Front Desk Standards of Operations utilizing Cadence scheduling system(EPIC) & (Mosaic) * Coordinates the scheduling of new patient, follow-up, multi-disciplinary (with multiple providers), chemotherapy infusion patient appointments utilizing multiple Cadence resources and systems. * Verifies demographic and insurance information prior to scheduling * Assists with patient intake, gathering of clinical records, pathology results/slides, outside imaging reports/discs and lab results. * Provides support and information to providers to problem solve and manage complex administrative patient issues. * Collaborates with clinical providers and other staff to ensure lab orders are available prior to patient arrival. * Triages and manages high volume of patient telephone calls, utilizing superb customer service skills. * Assists with insurance prior authorizations and referrals using knowledge of contracted payors. * Possesses a thorough knowledge of all HMO, managed care, other third party insurers, and available patient financial services/resources. * Assists with investigating and resolves issues relating to and arising from the referral and/or billing process, which interrupts the delivery of care to a patient or the reimbursement for services rendered. Addresses patient questions, complaints and concerns as able. * Maintains confidentiality and privacy, which is consistent with HIPAA guidelines. * Provides cross coverage for other practice staff members for absences, vacations, etc. and during variations in workflow, as needed * Performs other duties as assigned
This position involves close interaction with physician staff and fellow members of the clinical center as well as patients with cancer.
High School Diploma required, Bachelor's Degree Preferred
