Position: IT Technician

Contract Period: School-year position only (185 days/year, 4 hours/day), non-exempt, no benefits.

Reports To: Director of Technology

Pay: Salary based on experience and qualifications.

Position Goal: Provide district-wide technical services in the installation, configuration, operation, repair, maintenance, troubleshooting, and diagnosis of computer hardware,

peripheral equipment, and software for both PC's for all associated district hardware.

Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent. Some higher education technology coursework preferred.

Applicants will be subjected to a criminal background check as required by law. (RSA 189:13-a)

Pre-Employment Medical Examination signed by Licensed Physician indicating that the employee is medically capable of performing designated assignment.

(RSA 200:36 and 275:3)

Evaluation: Performance of position responsibilities will be evaluated annually in accordance with the approved administrative procedure for staff evaluation.

Other Considerations and Requirements:

* Specialized training in computer operating systems, repair, networking, and data communications
* Demonstrated knowledge/experience in the use, diagnostics, and installation of computer hardware, related peripherals, and software related to various computer hardware
* Access to an automobile for use in daily responsibilities
* Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable

Physical Requirements: Standing: Frequent Lifting: Able to lift up to 50 lbs.

General Duties, at the discretion of the District, may include:

1. Repair/Support.

Perform computer repairs. Inspect, repair, assemble, install, and configure computers and related equipment. Troubleshoot, isolate, and correct computer, peripheral, and network problems.

Install new software and establish access rights and security as required.

Perform diagnostics on various computer hardware, operating systems, and software as required

Format and/or image hard disks, install operating systems, establish directory structures and perform related tasks following district guidelines, procedures, or policies.

Install computer, peripheral equipment, hardware and software upgrades. Download service packs, security patches, operating system updates, and other appropriate software from the Internet; install as necessary. Back-up software disks as appropriate; archive data; restore data as needed.

Perform routine inspection and maintenance of assigned district area computer and network hardware, such as computers, computer components, monitors, drives, printers, and other computer and network peripherals including file server configurations, installation, maintenance and diagnostics; and, take action to remedy malfunctions while attempting to ensure that all assigned computers and district network equipment remain operational.

May perform virus scanning and maintain security software as needed. May remove unused or unwanted equipment at the request of the user. May remove unused, unwanted, non-licensed, or unapproved software from computer systems to ensure a secure computing environment

Assist in, and troubleshoot network. cabling projects and basic network equipment installation such as wiring, conduit, jacks, wall boxes, punch blocks, transceivers, hubs, switches, file servers, and network interface cards.

All other duties as assigned to specific position held.

2. Maintain communication and collaboration.

Establish and maintain a variety of records related to responsibilities and generate reports as requested.

Immediately notify supervisor of situations in which additional intervention may be required to solve a problem.

Provide, or assist in providing, users with applications software, computer hardware, and peripheral equipment training.

3. Maintain the highest standards of professionalism.

Demonstrate positive work habits by showing initiative, cooperation, dependability, efficiency, and productivity.

Follow the guidelines of confidentiality as established by the school district.

Attend and participate in relevant training sessions, meetings, and professional growth activities as requested/required.

Perform in a professional manner when interacting with students, parents, faculty, administration, and co-workers.

Maintain a clean and professional workplace and appearance.
