### Summary
This Program Support Assistant position is located in Nursing
Service and is a bargaining unit position. This is a permanent
Part-time position.
**If you are not a current permanent employee of Providence VAMC,
including permanent Veterans Canteen Service employees, current
permanent full-time Hybrid Title 38 and permanent full-time Title 38
employee, you will not be found eligible or referred for this
position.**

### Responsibilities
- Collects, coordinates and prepares a broad variety of reports,
projects, studies and administrative activities.
- Provides computer-related support and assistance in Information
Technology requests and coordination.
- Utilizes Microsoft software to complete administrative tasks and
to extract data for management.
- Trains staff on software, requests computer access, and develops
training programs.
- Provides guidance and training to staff in regards to system
security requirements and awareness.
- Serves as a liaison in schedules, monitors and provides
oversight of access requests (Physical Access Control
Systems-PACS, Personal Identity Verification- PIV, etc).
- Maintains training records and monitors the completion of
required training tasks and programs.
- Develops and prioritizes annual equipment requests based on
service needs.
- Prepares procedure manuals, training and reference material for
staff development.
- Provides administrative support in the form of creating and
editing letters and reports, replying to various inquiries and
tracking equipment supplies/requests.
- Types and transcribes various correspondence
requirements/meeting minutes.
- Receives telephone calls/visitors, providing assistance and
routing requests to the appropriate personnel as needed.
**Work Schedule:** The Providence VA Medical Center is an acute care
facility operating 24 hours a day 7 days a week. While most tours of
duty are scheduled during the day, the possibility of working
evenings, nights and weekends does exist. Shift changes will be
considered based on patient and facility needs.

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements
by the closing date of this announcement, 08/05/2019.
**Time-In-Grade Requirement**: Applicants who are current Federal
employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks
must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of
this announcement. For a GS-06 position you must have served 52
weeks at the GS-05. The grade may have been in any occupation, but
must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your
time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application

You may qualify based on your experience as described below:
- **Specialized Experience:** You must have one year of
specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower
grade GS-05 in the normal line of progression for the occupation
in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would
typically include, but are not limited to: managing and
providing administrative support in an office setting;
maintaining security and confidentiality of office files,
personnel training records, and equipment; utilizing office
automation and software programs to request computer access and
to generate and manage reports, spreadsheets and databases; and
tracking various data and tasks to ensure successful and timely
completion.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer

**Physical Requirements:** Work is mostly sedentary, but will
require some lifting and moving (i.e. files). some walking and
standing.is required in maintaining files, delivering and receiving
messages and records within the main building of the Medical Center
and other auxiliary buildings. Computer keyboarding is required.
